Thonock Park

Gainsborough, Lincolnshire · Hosts 2 PJGT events in 2027

About the club

Thonock Park sits on the edge of Gainsborough in the Lincolnshire countryside and is the spiritual home of the PING Junior Golf Tour. PING’s European headquarters and its fitting centre are next door, so it is a fitting place for the season to finish – the Grand Final is played here every September.

There are two 18-hole courses. The Thonock Park course has been played for more than 90 years and was reworked in 1985 by former Ryder Cup player Brian Waites. At 6,223 yards and par 70 it is not long, but the tree-lined fairways and true greens ask for accuracy rather than power. The Karsten Lakes course, named after PING founder Karsten Solheim and designed by Neil Coles, opened in 1997 and is a bigger test at 6,900 yards, par 72, with lakes and water in play on many holes.

Off the course there is a floodlit 12-bay driving range for warming up, a comfortable clubhouse and on-site accommodation, which makes it an easy weekend for families travelling from further afield.
