Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course

Embleton, Northumberland · Hosts one PJGT event in 2027

About the club

Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course is the most scenic stop on the PING Junior Golf Tour. The links runs along Embleton Bay on the Northumberland coast, with the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle standing over the far end of the course and the beach a few yards from several tees.

Golf has been played here since 1900 and the course was redesigned by James Braid, the five-time Open champion. It is a traditional links: 18 holes, par 70 from the white tees at 6,287 yards, with gorse, pot bunkers and a wind that changes as you turn round the bay. The free-draining turf means it stays open and in good order when inland courses are waterlogged, and the greens are kept in play all year.

It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so parents and spectators walking the course get as much out of the day as the players. The clubhouse and kitchen are open daily, and Alnwick is about ten minutes away.
