Masters Tour
18 holes at some of the best clubs in the country, scored live, with gross and nett divisions from Under 12s up to Under 21s. The Masters Tour is for junior golfers who already carry a WHS handicap and want a proper season of competition.
There are 31 qualifying events in 2027, five of them majors, every one acceptable for handicap purposes and every one with prizes for the gross and the nett winner in each category. Play a single event near you, or chase one of the 48 places available in the Grand Final.
A season of 18-hole competition, run properly
The PJGT Masters is aimed at junior golfers aged 21 years and under who would like to compete in a series of 18-hole competitions across the UK.
We are proud to be delivering these events at some of the best clubs in the country, and hope players enjoy the challenge that lies before them. In 2027 there are 31 qualifying events, five of them majors, with some fantastic prizes up for grabs.
Every event uses Golf Genius software, with the mobile app for scoring, live leaderboards and modern technology to enhance the experience. There is a professionally set up first tee at every event, and prizes for the gross and nett winners in each category.
Who is eligible
Boys must be 21 years old or under on 1 January 2027 and hold a WHS handicap index of 28.4 or better. Girls must be 21 years or under on the same date, with an index of 36.4 or better. Players also need a club membership number, previously called a CDH number. Do check the terms of competition for the full detail before entering.
The format
18 holes of individual stroke play, from the white, yellow or red tees or the equivalent colours, with a 95% allowance in the nett divisions. Events follow the R&A Rules of Golf and any local rules at the host venue, and every one of them is acceptable for handicap purposes. A maximum score of five over par per hole applies throughout, in line with the R&A rules, to keep a decent pace of play.

Six divisions, gross and nett
The Tournament is split into a gross and a nett Order of Merit. Every division runs both, so a player is competing in two competitions at once.

Gross and nettCategories and handicap index bandings are subject to change depending on entries, but they are settled before the first event of the season. Players remain in the category they play their first event in for the rest of the season, including the Grand Final. If a player does move mid-season, Order of Merit points from the previous division cannot be carried over.

Questions parents ask
The things worth knowing before you enter. If yours is not here, Jason will happily answer it.
Entering
What handicap does my child need?
A WHS handicap index of 28.4 or better for boys, and 36.4 or better for girls, along with a club membership number – previously called a CDH number. Handicap index bandings can change depending on entries, but they are settled before the first event.
My child does not have a handicap yet. What now?
The Rookies Tour is where to start. It is 9 holes from forward tees for boys and girls aged 6 to 12, open to players with and without a handicap, and the older divisions play on a rated course so those rounds can go towards getting one.
How old does a player have to be?
Twenty-one or under on 1 January 2027, and there is no lower limit as long as the handicap requirement is met – the youngest division is Under 12s. Age is always taken on 1 January, so a player stays in the same age group all season.
Do we have to join the Tour to enter?
No. Every event is open to members and non-members. Membership gives you priority entry, members-only giveaways and a PING goodie bag. It opens on 1 October each year and lasts for that playing season.
How do we enter?
Choose Enter, create a profile for your child, then open Events 2027 and register for the competitions you want. Entries, live scoring and the Order of Merit all run through Golf Genius.
Can we play events outside our region?
Yes. There are no regional restrictions at all. Enter any event on the schedule, wherever it is, and enter as many or as few as you like.
Can I use one email address for two children?
Yes. Add a plus sign to the second registration, so thesmiths@example.com and thesmiths+1@example.com. Golf Genius treats each as a unique player, but both still reach your inbox.
On the day
When do we find out our tee time?
All tee times are emailed out within one week of your event, and all results are emailed out once the competition is closed. Results and standings are also on the site at any time.
Can I walk round with my son or daughter?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Family members and friends are welcome to walk the course and encourage the playing group. We just ask that the players make their own decisions, select their own clubs and read their own putts.
Are caddies allowed?
Yes, caddying is permitted, but a caddie may only carry the bag or push the trolley. Club selection, reading greens and every decision on the course must come from the player.
Do I need to download an app?
Yes. The Golf Genius app is free on the App Store and on Google Play. When you arrive you are given a unique Golf Genius identification code, which brings up the live leaderboard for the whole field.
When is the prize presentation?
Presentations happen once a full division has completed its round, so the day ends in a series of small ceremonies rather than one big one. All players are encouraged to attend, and winners who cannot should send their apologies.
Rules and scoring
What is the maximum score rule?
Five over par is the most that can be scored on any hole – 8 on a par 3, 9 on a par 4 and 10 on a par 5. The player records that score and moves to the next tee. It is in line with the R&A rules and it is there to support a decent pace of play at every event.
Do the rounds count for handicap?
Yes. All Masters Tour events are acceptable for handicap purposes, played over 18 holes on the white, yellow or red tees, or the equivalent colours, following the R&A Rules of Golf and the local rules of the host venue.
What is the difference between gross and nett?
Gross is the raw score, nett applies the player's handicap at a 95% allowance. Both run in every division, so one round counts in two competitions. If a player wins both, only one prize is awarded – both hold the same value, so the nett prize goes out, as the nett format has always come first here.
How does the Order of Merit work?
Points are awarded on finishing position at every event, in both the gross and the nett competition, with the best five scores counting towards the final standings. Ties are settled on countback over the last 9, 6, 3 or 1 holes, and level points are split by the higher finish in any one event.
How do we qualify for the Grand Final?
The top four in the gross and the top four in the nett in each division qualify, which is 48 juniors in all. Players must play in at least five events to be eligible. The Grand Final is on Saturday 11 September 2027 at Thonock Park, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, played on the Parks Course, and it is complimentary for those who qualify.
Can my child change division mid-season?
Only with a valid reason. Players stay in the category they played their first event in for the rest of the season, including the Grand Final, and Order of Merit points from the previous division cannot be carried over or transferred.
Cost
What does an event cost?
£41.99 per event, inclusive of VAT. Places are subject to availability.
Can we get a refund?
Refunds are not issued within three weeks of the event date. Cancellations made before that may be eligible for a refund, subject to administration fees. You may also have the option to transfer the entry to another event within the same calendar year, subject to availability.
Is membership worth it for us?
Membership costs £69.99 for the season. It brings priority entry a month before everyone else, the PING goodie bag and members-only giveaways and prizes.
Who will be crowned Masters Champion 2027?
Thirty-one qualifying events, five majors and a Grand Final at Thonock Park. Find an event near you, or look at the whole season on the map.
